2010 Troops in the Spotlight

Troops in the Spotlight is a 24-hour event held in Hyannis each year on Memorial Day weekend to honor fallen soldiers, veterans and active servicemen and women. Organized by Cape Cod Cares for the Troops, the event has grown over the 6 years of its existence and has added many co-sponsors.

Cape Cod Cares for the Troops was formed by then 12-year-old Dylan DeSilva in 2005. Nearly 8,000 care packages have been assembled and sent to troops overseas by Dylan, his mom, Michelle, and many volunteers.

Dylan is congratulated by WCOD on-air personality, Kevin Matthews. Dylan plans to join the Marine Corps and, until then, is working harder than ever to raise funds to continue the great work of Cape Cod Cares for the Troops.
